Best Plate Guards availableApr 24, 2010
These are the best plate guards I have found, and we have tried them all. For my son, we snap them onto one of his adapted scoop plates for a higher side, or onto a glass soup bowl.
The good:
They clip securely to the rim of the plate. This is important for people with poor fine motor issues, who may have to push against the guard to get food onto the spoon. Some others have clips so weak that the slightest pressure and they fall off.
The height is enough to give some protection against food falling off the side. (even higher would be better, but these are the highest on the market).
They're quite sturdy.
Super portable for restaurant use or taking to other people's homes (instead of carrying your own adapted plates).
The bad:
When they're warm from the dishwasher, they can snap easily.
They aren't big enough for a large dinner plate.
