My sis said it's AMAZINGJul 18, 2010 I have to start by saying I've never even seen the clock. I had it sent to my sister.
My sister sings on a cruise ship. Her cabin has no windows, so it's pitch black every morning. She sets an alarm for 7:30am to turn on a lamp. Then she returns to sleep and has a 9am alarm to get up. When stayed with her on the cruise, I thought "This is crazy!" I'd heard about the lamp, so I sent it to her.
The first day she used it, she wrote me on Facebook:
"THE SUNRISE LIGHT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!! My friend was singing "Here comes the sun doo'n doo doo" this morning! It is so AMAZING! I absolutely LOVE it and YOU big sister!!!!!!"
Today we actually talked and she started the conversation with how much she loved the lamp. She says it starts with a pinkish glow and then gradually gets brighter and turns yellow. She doesn't even use alarms anymore, even the backup alarm on the light (mind you, the cabin is small, so the light is probably more intense than it would be in a larger room.)
I was concerned because she doesn't have a lot of space, and I wasn't sure where she would put it - some of the reviews said it was big. But she said it was small. I guess it's all relative. :)
She also said that all her cruise mates are equally impressed!! They plan to get one for themselves.
I was also worried about it not working, due to some of the reviews. And $124 for a clock is too much to say, "Oh well" and throw it away. Returning it would be difficult because of her location. It's only been a week, but hopefully it won't break.
Thanks for such a wonderful product. I think you now have a life-long user...

I used to hate getting up!Jul 16, 2010 I love this clock!!!
I used to dread the annoying sound of the alarm going off in the morning. With this clock, the increasing light gently wakes me. I used to drag myself out of bed at 7:00. Now I wake up gently at 5:30 - And like it! What a difference.
I also like using the clock as an auto dimming reading light. I set the clock to auto dim over 15 minutes, and then read my Kindle until it is difficult to see. After putting the Kindle on the nightstand, I drift off to sleep within seconds.
The bulb burned out after 6 months, possibly because I use the clock every day, but that is a small price to pay for such a great item.
I cannot guarantee this clock will work for you, but it sure works for me.
Happy shift workerJun 13, 2010 A much less jogging awakening greets me in the afternoon. The sunrise settings provide me with a surprisingly more effective way to fall asleep in the bright morning hours. I gained better sleeping habits than expected with this product. I recommend this to any shift worker. Well worth the price.
Love it!!!!Apr 08, 2010 This clock is perfect for a person who hates to wake up with a jarring alarm. The only problem I have is that it wakes me up about 5 minutes in the cycle instead of the full 30 minutes. But I am a very light sleeper.

Amazing idea...wish it worked betterApr 02, 2010 I had heard about sunrise alarm clocks and found this one to be the least expensive on the market (believe it or not). I had been watching this product for better than a year hoping to find a less expensive version out there but finally curiosity got the better of me and I decided to get one for my sister for Christmas (in hopes that it would be amazing and then I would get one for myself).
December 2007:
I got an alarm clock for my sister. Had some issues with shipping and ultimately contacted the company directly. They claimed somehow the order got lost, but did ship me one immediately and rushed it so I would get it by Christmas. I got the feeling when I was talking to the company that it was some guy doing business out of his garage--not a judgment, just seemed odd.
The clock worked great for my sister. She loved it. It appeared to be the absolute best thing ever.
February 2008:
My sister surprised me with one for my birthday. Out of the box the plastic base seemed a bit flimsy, but the solid glass dome was nice. It went together quickly and the controls (although not immediately intuitive) were pretty easy to figure out. I love the alarm clock. It's the most amazing way to wake up in the mornings.
I noticed after a few weeks that the time on the alarm clock was not the same as on other clocks in my house (I'm big about all the clocks having the same time). I figured somehow I had changed the time on it so I re-set it. It happened again. At that point I questioned my sister about hers. She had the same issue. The clock gains a minute or so every week which means every day the light is coming on a fraction of a minute earlier than the day before. In the 21st century, how hard is it to get a digital clock to keep correct time? I digress. I also began to notice after a few months that the light did not always come on in the mornings. It is rare, but once a month or so it just doesn't light up.
November 2008:
My sisters light stopped working (note that it has been less than a year). She tried replacement bulbs and even contacting the company, but couldn't fix it. She ultimately ordered another one (by this time both of us were hooked on the alarm clock). Her new alarm clock has the same issues as noted above.
April 2010 (present day :)
Both my clock and my sister's new clock are working (albeit with the problems noted). It does seem that the frequency with which it doesn't come on in the mornings is increasing--still rare though.
I have never used the white noise feature on mine nor the audible alarm. I have recently started using sundown feature on nights when I can't sleep and it really does just knock you out.
After using the alarm clock for two years, I don't think I could ever go back to a traditional alarm clock, but I sure wish the company could straighten out the basic issues they're having or another company could develop as amazing a clock for less money. The clock is way too expensive to have problems like this.
I live in fear that my clock will die. When it does I will morn its passing. I suspect there will be tears.
